Pop star Jack Tan has just picked up another acting award in China for his role as an impoverished young man in Malaysian movie Shuttle Life.
This time, the Malaysian singer-actor bagged the Best Actor at the 12th Chinese Young Generation Film Forum Awards which was held in Wuhan, China on Sept 26.
This Chinese film award has two winners in each of the 10 categories. Tan has been named Best Actor along with Tibet’s Tenzin Jigme for his role in Sunshine That Can Move Mountains.
The two managed to beat strong competition from more established actors like Taiwan’s Eddie Peng (Duckweed), Hong Kong’s Pakho Chau (77 Heartbreaks) and China’s Peng Yuchang (Our Shining Days).
This is Tan’s second best actor award for Shuttle Life. In June, he scored at the 20th Shanghai International Film Festival’s Asian New Talent competition. Shuttle Life also stars Taiwanese actress-director Sylvia Chang and opens in Malaysia on Oct 12.
The movie, which is directed by Tan Seng Kiat, also picked up two more awards at the Chinese Young Generation Film Forum Awards: Best Cinematography and Best Production Design.
Malaysian movie, Mrs K picked up two awards, Best Production Design and Best Editing, at the Chinese Young Generation Film Forum Awards. Mrs K is helmed by Ho Yuhang and stars Hong Kong actors Simon Yam and Kara Wai, Taiwanese rocker Wu Bai and Malaysian actor Faizal Hussein.
