Is Jung Il Woo the first South Korean actor to star in a Thai drama?

Fancy a little kimchi in your tomyam soup? Now you can get the TV drama version of that with new dimsum Thai drama Love And Lies. It stars K-drama heartthrob Jung Il Woo, the first South Korean actor to play a lead role in a Thai drama.

Jung plays a suave head of a public relations company in Love And Lies. The show is a 26-episode romance series currently streaming on dimsum. Popular Thai actress Mild Wiraporn (also the female lead in Ugly Duckling Series: Don’t) plays Bell, a celebrity who gets entangled in a political conspiracy, and hires Tim (Jung) as her spokesperson to protect her image.

Tim easily quashes Bell’s scandals with a series of lies that inevitably makes her popularity soar. However, when Bell gets herself into even more trouble, Tim moves in with her to handle things. The two then start to develop feelings for each other.

Meanwhile, Tim is hiding a big secret, and to make matters worse, his father, who abandoned the family when he was young, suddenly shows up.

Best known for his breakthrough role in the 2011 tearjerker 49 Days, Jung has won awards at the 2014 MBC Drama Awards (Top Excellence Award, Actor in a Special Project Drama), 2013 iQiyi Awards (Male Actor Award), 2012 Huading Awards (Asia Male Actor Award) and 2009 Korea Junior Star Awards (Grand Prize, TV category).

Jung found further success in Flower Boy Ramen Shop, Moon Embracing The Sun and Cinderella And Four Knights.
