Say it is so: Weezer set to play Singapore

Weezer_Pork_And_Beans

Put on your sweater and attitude, folks, American alt-rock band Weezer is coming for a concert in Singapore in August.

The band, made up of guitarist and frontman Rivers Cuomo, drummer Patrick Wilson, guitarist Brian Bell and bassist Scott Shriner, is set to release its fourth self-titled album on April 1. This new album, also known as The White Album, will feature the three singles Weezer has released so far – Thank God For Girls, Do You Wanna Get High? and King Of The World.

Weezer has been around for more than 20 years, gaining popularity in the mid-1990s with hits like Buddy Holly, Undone – The Sweater Song, Say It Ain’t So and The Good Life. In the late 1990s the band took a short break after the departure of original member Matt Sharp; Weezer returned to the scene with its second self-titled album (aka The Green Album) in 2000, releasing hits like Island In The Sun and Hash Pipe.

The band released several more albums after that, including its third self-titled effort (The Red Album) in 2008 and Death To False Metal, a compilation of old recordings and previously unreleased tracks, in 2010. Weezer is currently signed to Atlantic Records, a division of the Warner Music Group.

Brought to you by LAMC Productions, the Weezer concert will be held at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre on Aug 15 at 8pm. Tickets, starting at S$108 (RM324), go on sale from 9am at March 19 via SISTIC (www.sistic.com.sg). For more information, head to the SISTIC website.
