From runway to streets when a style travels the distance in no time it trends big time. Here’s a lowdown on some of the top fashion trends that either originated or made a comeback in 2018.

1. Cold Shoulder

One most common trends that originated in 2018 was the cold shoulder in tops, dresses and blouses. The peek-a-boo cut in the sleeves revealed some skin and made the look chic and suave. The style was quite prevalent on runways, red carpets and daily life.

2. Dad Sneakers

Balenciaga made the dad sneakers look so trendy. Who would have thought those big chunky sneakers would become coveted and rage among the youth? Model Jordan Daniels was spotted wearing a pair of blue Balenciaga sneakers during Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2019.

3. Bike Shorts

All thanks to Bella Hadid and Kim Kardashian that bicycle shorts became the much sought after fashion trend in no time. The two divas stole or rather snatched this style from men within a short span of time and made them trendy by posting pictures on social media platforms.

4. Belt Bags

Exactly who could be credited for the trending belt bags is still unknown but many brands like Burberry and Gucci launched the belt bags in 2018 and Kendall Jenner did the honors of sporting one. It was the reason enough for youth to pick up the style and make it a trend this year. Belt bags definitely gave sling bags a run for their money.

5. Large Logos  

From Fendi to Dior, every other brand launched a large logo product this year. Seems this year, the craze for splashing luxury brands’ logos was at its peak. Both clothing and accessories was designed with large logos. Fendi’s “double F’s” reportedly experienced resurgence in popularity. Gigi and Bella Hadid, along with the likes of Priyanka Chopra, Kourtney Kardashian, and Olivia Culpo drove the trend.

6. Bucket Hats

This piece of accessory made a comeback from 1990s to 2018. However, it did get its much-needed 21st century makeover before it made foray into the mainstream fashion during the holiday season this year. It could be seen during the fashion shows on the runway too.

7. PVC

Chanel’s Spring 2018 collection, which showcased sheer shoes and bags in PVC, made the style pick up and become mainstream. The synthetic plastic polymer made way to the outwear, bags and boots. Model Jessica Kahawaty donned a PVC coat during Louis Vuitton show at Paris Fashion Week.

8. Saddle Bags

Dior brought back the saddle bag in 2018. The French powerhouse Christian Dior had 100 global influencers and celebs relaunch the saddle bag on Instagram for its Fall/Winter 2018 collection. Many other brands followed suit.

9. Faux Fur

Celebrities like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Kendall Jenner sported faux fur this year, and popular designs emerged from brands like ASOS and TopShop. EBay sales of the “teddy bear” coat nearly quadrupled between September and October. From vests to backpacks, 50,000 faux fur items sold on eBay between July and September — a 105 percent increase in just 90 days, as per an official release.

10. Thigh-high denim boots

After Jennifer Lopez wore a pair from Versace thigh-high denim boots, many copied the style and the boots started to trend.
