Singaporean singer-songwriter Gentle Bones (aka Joel Tan) isn’t exactly a proponent of bright and bubbly. But along comes producer MYRNE (aka Manfred Lim), and suddenly everything isn’t all doom and gloom.

B4nger Project, a collaborative album between both musicians, is as its name suggests – a side assignment of sorts to concoct incredible polished pop gems and unapologetically accessible bangers.

Opener Ju1y immediately sets the groundwork with its pursuit of electronic pop over hooky synthesisers and throbbing bass. Elsewhere, numbers like Cra2y and 7ove You continue the trajectory of polished wobbles and dancefloor beats.

The brooding S3oul gives an indication of Gentle Bones’ darker cuts as well as on the splendid Geniuses & Thieves. Just as one thinks the musician is giving in to old habits, the sun-drenched B4nger comes along to deliver a one-two punch finale.
