Will Malaysian-based Sobhi Shaker win ‘Asia’s Got Talent’? You can help decide

Sobhi Shaker has made it to the grand finals of Asia’s Got Talent. The Syrian magician who specialises in card tricks is representing Malaysia in the event.

“When I wake up today, I can’t believe it. I need someone to punch me so I know I’m not dreaming,” he told Star2.com in a phone interview from Singapore. Sobhi performed at the grand finals last night (Dec 7) in front of judges David Foster, Anggun and Jay Park at the Marina Bay Sands. “For my act, I had a concept where I wanted to deliver this message of hope through my struggles.”

Sobhi, who came to Malaysia in 2015 to escape the Syrian war, is based in Shah Alam, Selangor where he works as a supervisor at a restaurant.  “I’m thankful for the support for the support I’v received from Malaysians. I’ve been getting a lot of positive messages on social media. I’m very proud to be Syrian guy representing Malaysia in Asia’s Got Talent,” he added.

Sobhi is one of nine finalists competing to win Asia’s Got Talent and the grand prize of US$100,000 (RM407,000). The public can vote to decide on the winner. Voting opens from now until Dec 13, 11:59pm, and fans can vote via Facebook Hashtag, Facebook Messenger and Google Search.
