Malaysian film ‘The Kid From The Big Apple 2’ receives nomination at Macau International Movie Festival

The Kid From The Big Apple 2: Before We Forget is nominated in the Best Film category at the 9th Macau International Movie Festival.

Director Jess Teong commented on her Facebook: “Feeling honoured to be one of the 110 films nominated. A beautiful surprise!’

Before We Forget is the sequel to Teong’s hit flick The Kid From The Big Apple, which won four awards at the same festival in Macau in 2015. It received awards for Best Writing (Teong), Best Newcomer (Tan Qin Lin), Best Actor (Ti Lung) and Best Supporting Actress (Jessica Hsui).

The new film is currently in cinemas, and it sees the return of Qin Lin and Ti Lung in the roles of the loveable Sarah and her grandpa. In this chapter, we see Ti Lung’s character losing his memory, and the family coping with it.

In our interview with Teong in November, she said the sequel – which still revolves around family and love – is about appreciation. “TKFTBA2 drives home the message that it’s important to value your family members while they’re still around.”

The film opened in cinemas nationwide on Nov 16, with opening week box office earning of RM2.2mil.
