Free movie screening during the Asean-China Film Festival in KL

The Asean-China Film Festival 2017 is happening on Dec 1-4 in Kuala Lumpur.

This festival is held in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the formation of Asean, with the organisers looking at setting it up as a long-term platform of film exchanges and co-operation to strengthen the ties between members of the Asean countries (Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Brunei) and China.

There will be about 30 films – with one to three films from the 10 Asean countries and eight films from China – screened during the festival.

On the awards night, prizes will be given out to Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor and Special Jury Award. On those four days too, a special forum has been planned as well as the signing of the memorandum of understanding for the same festival to be held in Xiamen, China next year.

There will be free screenings of the nominated films, exclusively, at GSC Mid Valley, Pavilion and MyTown on Dec 3-4.

Among the titles featured include Swan Lifts Turtle (Laos), #66 (Indonesia), Waris (Brunei), Bird Shot (Philippines), Wandering (Thailand), King Selfie (Cambodia), Saigon I Love You (Vietnam), Ah Boys To Men 4 (Singapore), Lat Pan (Myanmar) and Book Of Love: Finding Mr Right 2 (China). Malaysian films featured at this festival are Modern Day Love Stories and Shuttle Life. Tickets are free thanks to the film festival organisers. Redemption starts from Dec 1 (Friday) at the three participating GSC cinemas, on a first-come first-served basis.

Take note it is given out on a one-person-one-free-ticket.
