10-year-old actress Puteri Balqis nominated for Asian Television Award

At only 10, Puteri Balqis is the youngest Best Supporting Actress nominee this year at the Asian Television Awards.

She plays a brave child battling cancer in Ana Anak Ibu, which is also nominated for Best Single Drama Or Telemovie.

When she was seven years old, Puteri Balqis was named Best Actress at the 2014’s Asian Television Awards for playing the strong-willed, independent protagonist in Akulah Balqis.

Puteri Balqis isn’t the only Malaysian talent doing us proud – Louisa Chong earns a Best Actress nomination for the series Beautiful World – Crow. Tony Eusoff and Hasnul Rahmat have also received Best Actor nominations for their roles in The Hush and 7 Hari respectively.

Malaysian productions have also gained recognition at the Asian Television Awards. BoBoiBoy The Movie and Ejen Ali are nominated for Best 3D Animated Programme, Didi & Friends for Best Preschool Programme and Operation Sumatran Rhino for Best Natural History Or Wildlife Programme.

The Asian Television Awards has been honouring the best in the Asian television industry since its inception in 1987. The winners will be announced on Nov 30 and Dec 1.
