The 38-year-old singer-songwriter is in the running for the Best Southeast Asia Act award at upcoming 2017 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA), which is open to public voting.

He will be competing against Singaporean band The Sam Willows, Thai rockers Slot Machine, Thai singer Palitchoke Ayanaputra, Filipino singing sensation James Reid and Vietnamese pop star Dam Vinh Hung. Fans can vote for Faizal at the MTV EMA website.

The voting period ends on Nov 11 and the MTV EMA show will be held in London on Nov 13. Singer Rita Ora will be hosting the star-studded event.

This is Faizal’s second Best Southeast Asia Act nomination. His first was in 2015, but he lost to Vietnamese singer-songwriter Son Tùng M-TP.

Faizal is a Anugerah Industri Muzik award-winning singer who is notable for songs like Assalamualaikum, Sejati and Mahakarya Cinta. He also believes in using his platform as an artiste to give back to society.
