Look out for X, a new single and music video from Afgan (pic). The 28-year-old Indonesian singer shared during an interview in Puchong, Selangor recently that he is collaborating with Malaysian rapper SonaOne on the track.
“We’re going to shoot a music video in October and it’s going to be the fourth single from Sides,” he said.
Sides is Afgan’s third studio album and was released last year. So far, other singles from Sides include the catchy Knock Me Out, Percayalah, a duet with Indonesian superstar Rossa and romantic number Kunci Hati.
Afgan is a fan of SonaOne’s award-winning single No More. After being introduced to SonaOne by rapper Joe Flizzow, he decided to make a collaboration happen.
“SoneOne came to Jakarta and we wrote two songs together. I’ve always been a fan of the hip-hop scene in Malaysia. I love how it has been growing so much. I’m also a huge fan of Joe but we haven’t had the chance to collaborate yet.”
So what is X about? Afgan admitted that a lot of people has asked him about the title of the song.
“Well, it’s about your ex. You have to listen to the song,” he said coyly.
Afgan was in town to promote the upcoming joint concert with Indonesian rock band Ungu. The event will take place at Stadium Malawati in Shah Alam on Oct 6.
Afgan is labelmates with Ungu and they last performed at a concert in Singapore back in 2013.
“I love Cinta Yang Lain, a song Ungu did with legendary Indonesian singer Chrisnye. In fact, I’ve performed that song in a TV appearance.
“I admire how these guys are very humble. They have a great attitude. I think that’s why they can remain as a band for more than 20 years. It’s going to be an exciting show,” Afgan said.
It’s no secret as well that Afgan has been making regular appearances in Malaysia having performed at a concert in Johor Bahru back in April and a number of corporate shows as well.
There’s a good reason why he loves performing here.
“The fans in Malaysia are more expressive. You could say more hysterical,” he said with a laugh.
“Fans in Jakarta tend to be more reserved. That’s why it’s always fun to perform in Malaysia. Plus, Malaysia is like my second home,” he added.
