Popular Taiwanese drama ‘Fated To Love You’ now has Thai version

Popular Taiwanese drama Fated To Love You (2008), starring Joe Chen and Ethan Juan, is getting a Thai remake.

Titled You Are My Destiny, the series is shown on dimsum the same day as Thailand, with new episodes premiering every Monday and Tuesday at 10.50pm.

The romantic drama opens with Phawut, the rich heir of a family business, who is about to propose to his girlfriend on a cruise. But along the way, he gets drugged and mistakes Wanida for his girlfriend.

In the dark, Wanida also mistakes him as her boyfriend and the two end up having a one-night stand. Later, Wanida finds out she is pregnant.

Phawut’s grandmother wants them to get married. He reluctantly agrees but forces Wanida to agree to a divorce after the child is born. Things get out of hand when Phawut’s girlfriend finds out about their marriage and Wanida decides to leave him.

During her absence, Phawut begins to realise his love for Wanida and harbours the hope of living together as a family one day. Three years later, they meet again. Will they be able to let go of the past and find love with each other again?

Thai idols Esther Supreeleela and Bie “The Star” lead the cast of You Are My Destiny.

Esther is best known for her roles in U-Prince Series: Handsome Cowboy and Ugly Duckling: Boy’s Paradise, which are also available on dimsum.

Bie, whose real name is Sukrit Wisetkaew, first rose to fame when he placed second on Thai singing contest, The Star. He has since earned numerous accolades, including Favourite Male Artist of the Year at the Gmember Awards 2015.

Fated To Love You’s success also spawned a Korean remake in 2014 starring Jang Hyuk and Jang Na-ra.
