Controversial comedian Kathy Griffin brings ‘Laugh Your Head Off’ to Asia

One of America’s most controversial stand-up comedians, Kathy Griffin, is headed to Singapore for the first time – and she’s not mincing words!

Griffin, 56, is bringing her Laugh Your Head Off show to the Lion City on Nov 3. She’ll perform at the Star Theatre in the Star Performing Arts Centre. This will be her only gig in South-east Asia.

Griffin’s first world tour comes in the wake of a controversy that almost destroyed her career. In May, she released an image of herself holding a decapitated and bloody head that resembled US president Donald Trump.

The fallout from that photo was swift, brutal, and came from all sides. Griffin was forced to issue an apology, and in the most recent news, the affair also ended her longtime friendship with CNN anchor Anderson Cooper.

But Griffin has re-emerged an unapologetic comic. Laugh Your Head Off is fully loaded with stories of that infamous picture, along with other scandalous tales from Hollywood and the rest of America’s social pop culture.

“Who knew? One photo that sparked a conversation led to offers from around the world,” ” says Griffin. “So I look forward to making audiences laugh, telling them the whole sorted, ridiculous, but hilarious story!”

Griffin’s tour kicks off in October in Auckland, New Zealand before heading to Australia, and will finish off in Europe.

Griffin is a Guinness World Record holder for “Most Televised Comedy Specials” by a comedian. She’s had 18 stand-up specials between 2004 and 2013. She’s also had six Grammy nomination for Best Comedy Album, finally winning in 2013 for Calm Down Girl.

Griffin has a long history in television. Her big break came in 1996 with the Brooke Shields sitcom Suddenly Susan. Since then, she’s guest starred on countless other TV episodes and was a staple on the game show Hollywood Squares from 2001-2004. Her reality series, Kathy Griffin: My Life On The D-List, also won two Emmys throughout its six seasons from 2005-2010.

In 2016, Griffin completed an 80-city tour with her live show Like A Boss, and then released of her second book, Kathy Griffin’s Celebrity Run-Ins: My A-Z Index. She’s now ready to take her acerbic brand of comic storytelling across the globe and she swears that nothing is off the table.

“My show isn’t for the faint of heart, so leave your kids at home,” says Griffin. “My motto is ‘Funny First’, but don’t worry. We’ve got some serious smack-talking to do about everything and everyone – with love, of course.”
