Adiwiraku bagged the main prize at the 29th Malaysia Film Festival when it was named Best Film. It beat nominees Redha, Interchange, Hanyut and Desolasi at the event that took place in Putra World Trade Centre on Sept 23.
The drama directed by Eric Ong was inspired by the real-life story of students at SMK Pinang Tunggal in Baling, Kedah and their journey to a choral speaking competition.
Sangeeta Krishnasamy took home the award for Best Actress for her role in the film as a teacher struggling to inspire her students to victory.
Adiwiraku also received the Best Original Story award and it went to writer Jason Chong.
Autism family drama Redha took home four awards for Best Actor (Namrom), Best New Actress (June Lojong), Best Child Actor (Harith Haziq) and Best New Director to Tunku Mona Riza.
Interchange‘s Dain Said was named Best Director and star Shaheizy Sam won Best Supporting Actor.
Other big winners include period piece Hanyut with three awards Best Costume Design, Best Art Direction Supporting Actress for Diana Danielle.
Datuk Yusof Haslam received the Lifetime Achievement award for his work as a notable producer and director in the industry.
