Britney Spears wants to have more children

Pop star Britney Spears has two sons who are now around the same age she was when she started out in show business in The Mickey Mouse Club.

So, will her kids – Sean, 11, and Jayden James Federline, 10 – be following in their mother’s footsteps?

Not a chance, the 35-year-old singer says.

“They’ve grown up with me being in the business,” she says, sounding chirpy over the telephone from Thailand, one of the stops on her current Asian tour.

“They basically look at it like, ‘Oh, mummy does it, so it’s not that fascinating’. So I think they’ll go in the opposite direction, believe it or not. What mum does isn’t cool.”

Her Asian tour, which kicked off in Japan on June 3, also includes shows in the Philippines, South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

“The audience and the crowd are completely different over here,” she says enthusiastically. “The audience so far has been insane. Me and the dancers, before we go on stage, we are literally jumping up and down and high-fiving one another, we’re so excited,” she adds.

“Honestly, the fans inspire. They basically drive us, they’re the human force that keeps us going.”

The terror attack at her fellow American singer Ariana Grande’s Manchester concert in Britain in June has led to heightened security at her shows, but she is confident that her concerts are in safe hands.

“Yeah, it definitely adds an alertness in the security, in the way they operate. I’m very blessed with my security, I’ve been with the same guys for four years. I feel very protected with them.”

Spears says her fans have got more diverse over the years.

“My audience is a wide range of people, which is really kind of interesting. It’s funny, there’s a lot of kids in the audience, some of them are seven- to eight-year-olds and I think their parents bring them. A lot of people are from the 1990s that grew up with me.”

While Spears listens to a lot of 1980s classics when she is at the gym, she says she is also in touch with the current crop of pop singers.

“I love Lorde, I think she’s really cool,” she says of the 20-year-old New Zealand singer.

While she is working on new music, she has no plans to release anything new this year and is instead focusing on live performances.

Her beau, 23-year-old fitness model and actor Sam Asghari, has joined her on the current tour and her fans were abuzz online when she kissed him on stage in Taipei, Taiwan recently.

Spears had a whirlwind marriage to childhood friend Jason Allen Alexander in 2004 and, that same year, also married dancer Kevin Federline, whom she divorced in 2007.

She says she would like to expand her family, but marriage is not on the cards. “I will never get married again, but I would like to have more children,” she says. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network/Eddino Abdul Hadi
