August concerts in Malaysia: Shila Amzah and DNCE

Malaysian singer-songwriter Shila Amzah, popularly known as “Asia’s Sweetheart”, will soon light up the stage at Resorts World Genting in Pahang with her unique brand of music that has won her international fame across Asia.

The name of her concert also happens to be the title of her latest album and it is a befitting concept for her concert as it highlights the milestones she has chalked up thus far in the world of music, from the time she first began to sing professionally till now when her rising popularity will see her staging her second concert in Malaysia.

Known for her soaring vocals, Shila has made quite a name for herself in countries such as China.

Among the accolades that have confirmed Shila’s success in the international Mandopop market are Best Female Singer at the 15th Global Chinese Music Awards, Female Artist Of The Year (Hong Kong and Taiwan) at the 2015 Guangzhou Music Awards, and Best Female Singer (Hong Kong and Taiwan) at the 2016 Music Pioneer Awards.

Dance, DNCE

Meanwhile, for fans of American pop-rock band DNCE, make sure you keep Aug 8 free as the quartet will be bringing its brand of music to Malaysia then.

The group, comprising front man Joe Jonas (formerly from the group Jonas Brothers), guitarist JinJoo Lee, bassist/keyboardist Cole Whittle, and drummer Jack Lawless, was formed in 2015.

We were first introduced to its music with the dance smash Cake By The Ocean.

Its other dance-ready standouts like Toothbrush and Body Moves bring the same combination of youthful energy, grooving bass, featured in its eponymous debut album.

DNCE’s show in Kuala Lumpur will be held at KL Live in Jalan Sultan Ismail. Tickets start from RM288; you can get them from MyTicket Asia.
