Trailer wars: Thor vs Star-Lord

The first teaser for Thor: Ragnarok dropped just a few hours ago and it is so good it has already racked up more than 10 million views.

From Led Zeppelin’s soaring Immigrant Song and Cate Blanchett’s first appearance as the goddess of death, Hela, to Thor’s haircut and um, the re-emergence of his “friend”, the teaser gets a thumbs up from many. However, there are a few folks who seem to think that the Thor: Ragnarok teaser – which, at 1 minute 52 seconds, runs almost as long as a proper trailer – has a similar feel to that of the Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 clips.

Firstly, new characters are introduced in both trailers and they are, well, let’s just say “related” to the movies’ main figures. Classic rock music is used, although in the case of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.2, this has been a main feature from the get go.

All the clips are also very colourful and vibrant, and this is not limited to just the sceneries but the costumes and props, too. We love that turmeric-coloured woman aka Kismet (played by 1.92m-tall Elizabeth Debicki) with the creepy voice in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, by the way.

All these so-called similarities hardly bother us, really, because we are just excited these films are coming our way soon (actually, not THAT soon for Thor: Ragnarok, which only opens in November. Boo!). Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 opens on April 27 in Malaysia and May 5 in the US.
