Six new shows on dimsum to binge-watch in April

Subscribers to dimsum, the latest subscription video-on-demand service in Malaysia, will be in for a treat in April as it has added more hit titles to its ever-expanding catalogue.

Fans of dramas from Singapore, China, Hong Kong and South Korea can look forward to these shows on dimsum:

Holy Gui Guzi

This 52-episode drama depicts the power tussle between families and what people will go through to seek vengeance. Wu Qi comes up with a plan to seize the king’s power, but Chief Wang Cuo stops his evil ways. Wu takes revenge by killing Cuo’s whole family. Wu then goes after the Art of War, a masterpiece produced by Sun Tzu that’s considered a “bible” during this period. However, it is in the hands of Cuo’s son Chan who has survived. Starring Duan Yi Hong, Stephy Qi Wei and Zu Feng.

Don’t Dare To Dream

Weather girl Pyo Na-ri (Gong Hyo-jin) and news anchor Lee Hwa-shin (Jo Jung-suk) are long-time colleagues at SBC broadcasting station.

Na-ri has had a crush on Hwa-shin three years ago but things change when she meets Go Jung-won (Go Kyung-pyo), a chaebol heir and close friend of Hwa-shin. We sense a love triangle here.

The Gentleman

It is a role reversal in this Singaporean drama featuring Carrie Wong, You Yi, Aloysius Pang, Chen Hanwei and Pierre Png. Three brothers are forced to understand the work discrimination against women when they take on occupations that are perceived to be more feminine in nature. Zhang Nai Ping aspires to be a boss, but accidentally becomes a confinement nanny when he fails miserably in both work and marriage. Zhang Nai Liang, a professional ballet teacher, is forced to find another career option due to his hearing problems. Zhang Nai Yi, a fashion design graduate, winds up in an office that designs women’s undergarments.

Crossing The Ocean To See You

It’s lonely at the top as Su Mang finds out in this romance series. After her failed marriage, Su Mang returns to China to take up the position of a CEO in a tourism company. She starts rubbing the employees the wrong way when she decides to reorganise the company, and in the process lays off many staff.

This has earned her the nickname “the witch boss”. As the staff gossips about her failed marriage, Su Mang finds solace in one of her colleagues, Zheng Chu. As they become close, Su Mang unexpectedly finds out she’s pregnant. What does this mean to Zheng Chu? Find out in this 44-episode series.
