S.H.E’s Ella Chen gives birth to a boy

Taiwanese girl group S.H.E’s Ella Chen welcomed her first-born child on April 12, and it’s a bouncing baby boy. The little on weighs a little over 3kg (3.088kg to be exact) and measures at 48cm.

According to Apple Daily, her husband Alvin Lai, 40, shared on Facebook that she had been in labour for up to 20 hours.

Ella Chen also posted pictures of the baby on her official Facebook account.

Barely four days before, the singer-actress posted a video of herself dancing while heavily pregnant. In the video, captured by her husband, she was performing a dance workout to her 2016 solo single Me Vs Me and telling her baby that she is ready.

Chen will be 36 in June and is the first among the S.H.E. band members to have a baby. Selina Jen, 35, divorced her husband Richard Chang in 2016, while Hebe Tien, 34, who is still single.

Chen tied the knot with Malaysian businessman Lai in 2012. They had been trying to have a child for the past few years. The singer cleared her schedule last year to focus on building a family, and happily announced her pregnancy last October on her Weibo account.

Effortlessly energetic, the famously tomboyish Taiwanese pop star has said that she does not intend to stop at one child, and hopes to have at least two more!

Active since 2001, S.H.E. is the most successful and enduring female Mandopop group in Chinese music history. The group has released 12 studio albums, conducted four major world tour concerts, and won over 130 awards.
