Malaysian actress Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh has snagged another high-profile acting gig. The former Bond girl is slated to star in Crazy Rich Asians, which is adapted from the New York Times best-selling novel of the same name by Kevin Kwan.
The novel centres on wealthy families in Singapore. American-born Chinese Rachel follows her boyfriend back to his hometown in Singapore only to discover he is filthy rich, and is one of the most eligible bachelors in Asia. Immediately, she becomes the envy of many girls who are out to take her down.
According to Hollywood Reporter, Yeoh will play Eleanor Young, Nick’s controlling mother who, of course, disapproves of Rachel. Fresh Off The Boat lead actress Constance Wu is cast as Rachel while Justin Lin from the Fast And Furious movies will direct.
Yeoh is also involved in the new TV series Star Trek: Discovery which will roll out later this year.
