Singer, actor and American Idol judge Harry Connick Jr can now add talk show host to his list of professions.
The 49-year-old singer recently launched his very own daytime talk show, Harry, which will include music, games and comedy segments as well as celebrity interviews. In an interview with New York Daily News, Connick says he wants the show to be fun and lighthearted: “There’s a lot of people who deal with serious issues and things that need to be talked about – that’s not me. It’s really important for me to give people pure entertainment for an hour – positive, energetic, enthusiastic, sincere entertainment.”
Even so, Connick ensures the hour-long affair will be a meaningful one. He appreciates the contributions of everyday people on the segment I Got This, and honours the accomplishment of women in another segment, Harry’s Leading Ladies.
He elaborates on the latter: “It could be a woman who’s retiring after teaching second grade for 50 years or it could be a little girl who won the science fair; any accomplishment great or small.”
Harry airs weekdays at 4.15pm on Star World (Astro Ch 711).
