Martial arts fun on HBO this Christmas

Are you looking for some TV action on Christmas Day?

Well, tune in to HBO (Astro Ch 411) for the action-packed HBO Asia Original martial arts movie anthology. On Dec 25 at 9pm, the riches-to-rags story Master Of Drunken Fist: Beggar So makes its debut. Cao Jun stars as So Chan, the spoiled son of a wealthy merchant in Canton, China. After being framed in a political conspiracy, So Chan’s family is stripped off their wealth and status. So Chan who ends up being separated from his family finds refuge with a group called the Beggars Sect.

They offer him a chance to redeem himself in the eyes of society by learning to the sacred art of the Drunken Fist. Can So Chan deliver justice for his family?

If drunken masters make you tipsy, then tune in to HBO for Master Of The Shadowless Kicks: Wong Kei-Ying on Dec 26 at 9pm. The governor of Canton, named Wei, approaches honest physician Wong Kei-ying (played by Sun Hao-ran) for help to take down an opium business run by a local gang. However, the whole thing turns out to be a ploy by Wei to take over the business.

To make things worse for Wong, his mentor is captured and then forced into opium addiction by Wei. Wong continues to assist Wei as he desperatey find ways to save his mentor. But can he rescue his mentor before its too late or will Wong end up an opium addict himself?

Both movies are in Mandarin and were directed by Guo Jian-yong who previously choreographed action sequences in productions like Cradle 2 The Grave, Transporter trilogy and Red Cliff. The movies will be shown on HBO with Bahasa Malaysia and English subtitles.
