A new series, based on H.G. Wells’ classic War Of The Worlds has been given the green light by MTV, with Teen Wolf creator Jeff Davis and writer Andrew Cochran on board to adapt the 1897 sci-fi novel for the production.
The story, which explores a conflict between man and extraterrestrials, has previously been adapted multiple times via radio, features, TV and more, with the 2005 Tom Cruise-starring movie of the same name its most recent incarnation.
The news sees War Of The Worlds join the growing roster of reboots in the works, including Dynasty, Magnum P.I., The Lost Boys, Varsity Blues, The Departed, and L.A. Law, though the latter does not yet have a network attached, according to Hollywood Reporter.
In addition to War Of The Worlds, Davis is also readying a TV reboot of Swedish vampire novel Let The Right One In, which is set up as a pilot at TNT network, as his fantasy series Teen Wolf approaches the end of its run (its sixth season confirmed to be its last). – AFP Relaxnews
