Warner Bros has released the first image of Amber Heard as Mera, the Queen Of Atlantis who will appear in Zack Snyder’s Justice League and upcoming Aquaman films.
Justice League unites superheroes Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher).
Variety first reported in January that Heard was joining the cast as the love interest of Momoa’s Aquaman. The movie also stars J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, while Amy Adams, Jeremy Irons, and Jesse Eisenberg reprise their roles as Lois Lane, Alfred Pennyworth, and Lex Luthor, respectively. Earlier, Snyder unveiled behind-the-scenes footage on Oct 7, coinciding with the final day of filming in Britain.
In a recent interview with Variety, Gadot addressed Wonder Woman’s sexuality after comics writer Greg Rucka commented that she “obviously” had relationships with other women.
Gadot said that her sexuality in the upcoming Wonder Woman film is “not something we’ve explored”. “In this movie she does not experience any bisexual relationships,” she said. “But it’s not about that. She’s a woman who loves people for who they are. She can be bisexual. She loves people for their hearts.”
Warner Bros will release Justice League on Nov 17, 2017 with a yet-to-be titled sequel expected to be released on June 14, 2019. Wonder Woman opens June 2, 2017. – Reuters/Dave McNary
