Marvel’s upcoming Netflix shows look awesome as Hell(’s Kitchen)

Think DC has the monopoly on great superhero TV shows? Think again.

With Daredevil and Jessica Jones gaining critical acclaim for their brand of edgy superheroics, Netflix and Marvel will be continuing their collaboration with more shows, including a third season for Daredevil, a second one for Jessica Jones, and upcoming shows focusing on other superheroes like Luke Cage (out this year), Iron Fist (2017) and The Punisher (2017), before topping it all off with The Defenders later in 2017, which will bring all those heroes together to form a team of street-level superheroes.

During the Marvel Television panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the company revealed several videos teasing its upcoming shows, and boy are they glorious.

First up is a sizzle reel containing footage from Daredevil and Jessica Jones, interspersed with the first footage from the upcoming Luke Cage (a.k.a. Power Man). There’s a lot to see here, as we see all three heroes fighting their own battles, and also get a reminder that a Punisher series, starring Jon Bernthal, is also in the works:

Hot on its heels is the first trailer for Luke Cage, which features the titular hero (played by Mike Colter) nonchalantly ripping the door off a car and using it as a battering ram as well as a shield to get past a bunch of crooks shooting at him in a corridor.

Sweet Christmas, now that’s bada$$. Luke Cage, of course, had already made his debut in Jessica Jones, but we’re a lot more excited to see the man with the unbreakable skin get his own show.

Of course, you can’t have Power Man around without his best friend and fellow Hero For Hire, Danny Rand, a.k.a. Iron Fist, whose own series, Iron Fist, debuts in 2017. Iron Fist, played by Finn Jones, is a kung fu master who wields of a mystical force known as the Iron Fist, which allows him to focus his own chi in order to gain a, well, fist of iron.

The teaser trailer doesn’t really reveal much, but it looks like it will follow the comic book origin of Iron Fist, with Danny being stranded in the mystical land of Kun Lun as a boy and training to become the Iron Fist there.
Even more mysterious, but no less exciting, is the teaser trailer for The Defenders, which will bring together all four heroes – Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist – to form a team.

Sure, it isn’t much, with just some cryptic hints about the heroes involved in it, but there’s enough there to get us excited about these heroes coming together, like some sort of street-level kind of Avengers. Heck, we’re even hoping The Punisher will show up to help the team as well; as well as Doctor Strange, who was a member of the original Defenders team in the comics, along with The Hulk!
