Recently, it was announced that Yuna has collaborated with Waze to provide her singing voice for the traffic app.
This is not the first time Waze is featuring the voice of a Malaysian celebrity; last year, comedian Harith Iskander helped users navigate traffic in Bahasa Malaysia.
Just like Harith’s stint with Waze, Yuna’s voice pack is available for a limited time so you might want to check it out fast. So, which Malaysian celebrity should be considered next to be featured on Waze?
Star2.com comes up with four candidates we think would be fun for the traffic app.
The most recognisable (and still beloved) voice of radio is our best candidate, what with his deep baritone voice and careful diction. And with his vast knowledge in music, Teoh, 68, can possibly suggest songs to listen to while stuck in traffic. Paging Spotify, here’s a partnership you should be looking into.
Our favourite celebrity chef has one of the most disctintive voices on TV, thanks to his numerous cooking shows and hosting stints throughout the years. And if you have seen him on TV, you would know that the 58-year-old star is extremely humorous too. He can inject some of his witty lines while guiding drivers on busy Malaysian roads.
Datuk Rahim Razali
There’s something soothing about Rahim’s voice … even when he was compering sports telecasts back in the 1970s and 1980s. The 77-year-old actor can definitely bring his brand of calm to the traffic app. That would probably soothe disgruntled drivers during peak-hour traffic!
Ruhaiyah who?! More popularly known as “Aunty Doraemon”, Ruhaiyah has been voicing the blue, earless robo-cat Doraemon in the Malaysian version of the anime series for the past decade. This is one voice you’ll either love or hate but it is sure to bring lots of laughter in the car, especially if you have kids. With her high-pitched voice navigating traffic in BM (of course), you’ll probably go that extra circle on the roundabout just to be entertained. But remember to keep your hands on the steering wheel in between fits of laughter.
