Sari Yanti was once chased by a cow during Hari Raya. The 32-year-old actress, who first came into the spotlight with the 2007 series Kisah Kaisara, was a kid walking from house to house with her cousins to collect duit raya at her hometown, Kuala Pilah, Negri Sembilan.
“I think that cow was a mother that had just given birth. I walked past her and I think she thought I wanted to disturb her calf. So she went after all of us, and we ran,” Sari Yanti recalls the incident with a laugh.
“I guess kids nowadays don’t get to have that kind of experience anymore.”
The Lip Lap Raya star, who has two children aged six and four, says she still tries to take them walking around her kampung to meet relatives and neighbours sometimes, although she says she has to be careful as it’s not as safe these days.
Sari Yanti, whose favourite Raya dish is lontong, will be back in Kuala Pilah with her kids this year. “This year we’re wearing marshmallow or pastel colours,” she says of her family’s tradition of donning colour-coordinated outfits.
