This is what the Justice League movie will be about

Warner Bros has unveiled the official synopsis and logo for its upcoming Justice League movie, which will bring together Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash.

“Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy,” the synopsis said. “Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes – it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.”

Directed by Zack Snyder, this marks the big screen debut of the Justice League, featuring an all-star lineup: Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher. Snyder began shooting Justice League in April from a script by Chris Terrio with Amy Adams, Amber Heard, Jeremy Irons, J. K. Simmons and Willem Dafoe also starring. The film is scheduled to be released on Nov 17, 2017, with Justice League: Part Two set for June 14, 2019.

Batman v Superman, starring Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavill as Superman, turned out to be mildly disappointing for Warner Bros with worldwide grosses hitting US$870mil. Snyder directed from Terrio’s script, which introduced Gadot as Wonder Woman, Momoa as Aquaman and Miller as The Flash.

Warner Bros also announced recently that Affleck would be an executive producer on Justice League in addition to starring. He unveiled the movie logo on June 21. Affleck also announced in April at Cinemacon that he would direct and star in a standalone Batman movie.

Warner Bros has already planned a sprawling slate of movies in the DC universe through 2020, with Suicide Squad slated for Aug 5, the two Justice League films, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash. – Reuters/Dave McNary

Winter is coming to Justice League

In other news, actor Kristofer Hivju, famous for his role as Tormund Giantsbane in HBO’s Game Of Thrones, has reportedly been recruited to play an Atlantean king – most likely King Orin – in the upcoming Justice League film. Hivju’s character, the ruler of Atlantis, is said to possess one of the three “Mother Boxes” in the movie.
