Here’s the 16-year-old singer featured in Ewan McGregor’s movie trailer

Upcoming singer-songwriter Jasmine Thompson may have just “officially” started her career as an artiste in the music industry but she has already amassed more than a million followers on almost all her social media accounts.

Thompson first started out as a YouTube singer in 2011, posting videos of her singing acoustic covers of current music and evergreen songs that are way older than her (she only turns 16 in November this year). A handful of her covers were used as feature tracks for TV commercials as well as TV and movie trailers; If you’ve seen the latest trailer for Ewan McGregor’s directorial debut American Pastoral, you too would be more intrigued by Thompson’s eerie rendition of Mad World (originally by Tears For Fears) than what the actors have to show.

The British singer has released two EPs – A Bundle Of Tantrums and Another Bundle Of Tantrums – independently, but she has since been signed to Atlantic Records, a division of the Warner Music Group. Although there’s no word on whether she will be releasing an album, Thompson does have two live shows coming up, one in Italy and another in Hungary.

Thompson, who plays the guitar and piano, has also been featured as a singer in a number of EDM tracks, most notably in Robin Schulz’s Sun Goes Down in 2014, and in Where We Belong, a new song by French DJ Hugel.

You can check out more of Thompson’s music on her official website.
