According to a report in Forbes, vinyl sales is enjoying a revival in the music industry in the United States. In 2015, almost 12 million copies of vinyl were sold, marking a 30% growth from the previous year.
Adele’s 25 was the best-selling vinyl in the US, with more than 116,000 copies sold.
However, the local music scene has yet to fully embrace a return to vinyl; many people are opting for digital-only releases instead.
Rapper SonaOne recently said his 12-track debut album Growing Up Sucks is only available in digital format while more recording artistes in Malaysia are opting for singles-only releases.

The 15 songs featured on this double-LP vinyl were recorded at Datuk Siti Nurhaliza’s concert in Istana Budaya in April 2015. For RM212.90, fans get to enjoy songs like Jaga Dia Untukku, Lebih Indah and Seluruh Cinta. The hefty price tag has not stopped some collectors from snagging 10 copies for themselves.

The Hujan frontman’s solo debut album has five song plus a live piano version of title track. Priced at RM120, only 300 pressings were made available. Teenage Head Records in Subang Jaya, Selangor reportedly sold out all 150 copies the store had in stock. Brand new copies are available on eBay with price starting from RM85.

The five-track vinyl comes with with lyrics and artwork in a hardcover book, nicely packaged in a black box. Only 222 copies of this vinyl – which features Aizat’s duets with the likes of Yuna, Zee Avi and Noh Salleh – were available and fans had to bid for a copy online. Bidding started at RM150.
