Scott Eastwood has joined the ensemble of Fast 8, the next installment in the Fast & Furious franchise.
Eastwood joins Charlize Theron, who will portray a new antagonist.
The latest installment begins production this summer with a planned April 14, 2017, release. Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson and Michelle Rodriguez will reprise their roles, with F. Gary Gray taking over the directing reins. Neil Moritz and Diesel will produce.
Eastwood is playing the protege of Kurt Russell’s federal agent, who will be reprising his role in the latest installment as well. Plot details are under wraps, although sources have told Variety that Cuba will be one of the destinations the production will visit during its shoot.

Eastwood can be seen next in another big franchise, Suicide Squad, as well as the Oliver Stone biopic Snowden and the Ben Affleck-helmed Live By Night.
