Local actor Mr Os has died from lung cancer at the age of 55. His daughter Husna Yusof confirmed his passing in a Facebook post.
“My father has passed away a while ago. On behalf of the family, please forgive him if he has hurt anyone whether intentionally or not. His body will be brought home to Gombak, Selangor,” she said in the Facebook post. mStar Online contacted the actor’s son, Mohd Hafizul Mohd Yusof, who shared that Mr Os had spent the last few days in the hospital due to breathing difficulties.
“Dad had been unwell since Monday and was being treated at Hospital Selayang. He could still speak until this morning. Today, he looked really weak and could only move his head to indicate yes or no,” Hafizul said.
Born in Kuala Kangsar, Perak, Mr Os (or Mohd Yusof Abdul Hamid) made his acting debut in 1984 in a TV1 drama series Santan Berlada.

In 1986, he made his feature film debut in Balik Kampung. A year later, he received the Malaysia Film Festival award for Best Comedic Actor for his role in the film Mr Os. He was honoured with the same award again in 1997 for his role in the film Ghazal Untuk Rabiah.
His other notable works include playing a youth with autism in Adik, a role which earned him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at Malaysia Film Festival in 1991.
In 2011, he and fellow comedian Abon (Shahrizan Ahmad) won Astro comedy competition show Maharaja Lawak Mega.
One of his most recent roles was playing Pak Sham in the popular educational series Oh My English! in 2012. He was also a mentor on Projek Komedi Warna, a reality show on Astro. His last movie role was in Gangsterock Kasi Sengat last year. He will be laid to rest at Bukit Permata Muslim Cemetery in Selangor on Friday evening.
