Spider-Man says hello in Captain America: Civil War

By MAANE KHATCHATOURIAN

The new Spider-Man finally makes his debut in the latest trailer for Captain America: Civil War. Iron Man calls on Spidey (or “Underoos” as he hilariously refers to him), who’s evidently on his team, to use his web powers to steal Captain America’s shield and bind his arms.

“Hey, everyone,” Tom Holland’s character then says, perched on a car roof, in the final moments of the movie’s second trailer.

The Avengers-sized film, which hits theatres on May 6, centres on the epic clash between Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) that threatens to tear the Marvel cinematic universe apart.

The government sets up an organisation to oversee the Avengers, splintering the team into two camps – one led by Steve Rogers/Captain America, who’s opposed to government interference, and the other by Tony Stark/Iron Man, who supports government oversight after being brainwashed.

The web slinger joins Team Iron Man members Rhodey (Don Cheadle), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and Vision (Paul Bettany). Team Captain America, meanwhile, consists of Bucky (Sebastian Stan), Falcon (Anthony Mackie), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Ant-Man (Paul Rudd).

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo from a script by Winter Soldier writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the movie also stars Daniel Bruhl, Emily VanCamp, Frank Grillo, William Hurt and Martin Freeman.

Marvel and Sony’s Spider-Man standalone film, which focuses on a teenage Peter Parker’s high school days, bows on July 7, 2017. – Reuters
