EXO rocked the crowd at Stadium Merdeka

South Korean-Chinese pop-rock outfit EXO came, saw and conquered the 14,000-strong crowd that turned up at Stadium Merdeka on March 12.

Screams and cheers from EXO-L – as the group’s fans are known – reverberated across the venue as the K-pop heartthrobs delivered smashes such as CALL ME BABY, EXODUS and LOVE ME RIGHT.

The boys kicked off the show with a livewire version of Overdose, the opening title track of EXO’s third extended play.

The Kuala Lumpur stop of the ‘Exo Planet #2 – The Exo’luxion’ world tour – which reportedly cost over RM2mil in stage production alone – featured gigantic screens and thrilling pyrotechnic effects that added a multi-layered dimension to the live show.

But of course, it was the music that truly mattered. The crowd danced to the group’s frenetic pop offerings and sing along to their slower jams throughout the show.

In between songs, the guys peppered the show with hilarious banters that positively riled up the fans.

EXO debuted in 2012 and had rose to fame with the release of its million seller regular album XOXO in 2013. Earlier smashes such as Growl and Wolf cemented the group’s status as K-pop’s next-big-thing.

The other stops in this world tour saw EXO filling up arenas in Seoul, Tokyo, Osaka, Bangkok, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Macao.
